How are chow chows with cats?

getting ready to go get my new chow chow hes 1 year old and loving and great with kids, my only concern is my mom has 2 cats the owners told me hes great with other dogs and kids but they dont know about cats because hes never been around them, does anyone know how chows usually act towards cats, i had a chow sharpei mix and he was best friends with the cats but sadly he got severe arthritis and had to be put down because he was in too much pain
