Why do my bangs grow faster then my actual hair?

I got my hair cut bout 5 months ago and its above my shoulders, but sadly and oddly its still the same length. I only grew 1 in and a 1/2. I cut bangs regularly on my own. But my bangs always grow faster then my actual hair. I' m only 23, what's wrong with my hair? Any tips on how to get my short hair to grow faster : ( Thanks you. Natural ways only please.
