How can a man abandon a dying woman with his child?

I'm losing sleep over this situation. Really. My friend is pregnant by this guy. They are both my friends, in fact i introduced them. He had been trying to date her for like a year. I don't think she agreed to date him (she doesn't date anyone), but they slept together eventually. Well I think like the 2nd time they slept together she got pregnant. She is an adult, so she is taking responsibility for her actions & is choosing to have the baby & raise it the best she can. He wanted her to get an abortion, & she said "im not getting an abortion. Im 26 years old, not 16". I agree with her :) Well now he wont talk to her at all. Told me he plan she's on never talking to her again. He doesn't want babies etc.he is thirty something btw, & also lied to her about his age. My friend has a life shortening disease and is often ill and in the hospital. I think her life expectancy is like 32, she has to take lots of meds everyday to live, but from what I read this disease kills people in their 30's. Im not saying that she cant take care of a baby, im just saying she is going to need some support. So if a man wants a woman so bad that he is after her for a year, then when he finally gets her, don't you think he would be a little more supportive especially being that she is dying? How could someone abandon her under all these circumstances? Im the type of person that trys to understand everyone. On Yahoo Answers there are many different people, from all walks of life and I thought maybe someone on here could help me understand the thought process of a person such as him. I kinda feel like this is my fault. I never should have let him near her. I always see him out with different girls... he is overtly sexual to the point where I think its gross. But he did seem to like her, and i never would have guessed he would do this to her. Not only to her, but he is abandoning his own kid, & eventually will be leaving it parentless b/c he is selfish & she will be dead. I'm so digusted & sad
