Why do people expect you to read their minds?

I hardly ever see my cousins. As a matter of fact, I have cousins with whom I've never said nothing more than "Hi". On New Years, my paternal first cousins overtly ignored me the whole time. No one helped me with dishes which took at least 1 1/2 hours. These people can't name one negative thing that my sister or I ever did to them.
